So take that weekend getaway or holiday vacation to a winter wonderland. Check out these winter glamping destinations offering posh luxury suites, cozy bonfire nights, and thrilling adventures.

7 Winter Glamping Destinations

1. Dunton Hot Springs | Dolores, Colorado

Dunton Hot Springs offers the quintessential winter glamping destination you can imagine, set within a restored 19th-century Colorado ghost town. Choose one of the charmingly rustic, hand-restored cabins that have been brought back to life. While the integrity of the cabins remains the same, inside you’ll find modern, high-end amenities for keeping you comfortable and warm through winter, including heated floors. Each cabin is uniquely styled and features custom-made furniture, king-size beds, and deep soaking tubs. Some even offer private access to the hot springs.

Two notable accommodations are the Well House Cabin and Christy’s Tent. The ultra-private Well House offers its very own indoor hot spring, cold plunge, steam shower, and wood-burning stove for curling up as you watch the snowfall. Christy’s Tent features a heated luxury four-season safari tent tucked in the mountains.

Communal Areas + Amenities

Dunton Hot Springs offers several communal areas. The saloon reveals an open kitchen where guests can watch the chef prepare farm-to-table meals that are then served on an antique table where everybody dines and mingles, a big cattle outlaw tradition. Or you can relax in the calcium bicarbonate hot springs pouring in at the restored bathhouse.

If you get substantial snow, partake in winter activities such as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing along a trail laid out by a former Olympic Nordic skier or simply nestle by the fire in River Camp’s Farm House with board games, hot chocolate, and more.

Dunton Hot Springs offers an amazing winter glamping experience in the Rockies, but they have more destinations to explore too!

2. The Green O | Greenough, Montana

Getting snowed in at The Green O makes a spectacular winter getaway. Located in Big Sky Country, this winter glamping destination stays open year-round, making the most of Montana’s winter wonderland. Stay in a luxury suite like the Tree Haus or Round Haus overlooking snow-covered pines, keeping warm with modern touches like heated floors, a hot tub, and charming additions like a wood-burning stove.

Communal Areas + Amenities

The Green O offers tons of wintertime activities and excursions. Take a quiet hike snowshoeing through nearby trails or ice-skating. Or try something even more adventurous like snow tubing behind a snowmobile, dog sledding, or even skijoring (where you snow ski behind a horse!) – all set within the majestic winter landscape of Montana.

The Social Haus offers a social atmosphere, naturally, with a cozy fireplace and locally sourced cuisine.

3. Mt. Hood Tiny House Village | Mt. Hood, Oregon

This Tiny House Village is as cozy and intimate as can be, especially if you get snowed in! Each of the seven tiny homes is compact, but comfy, offering suite-like amenities like warm loft beds, wood-paneled walls, and small but efficient kitchens for whipping up cocoa or a warm meal. The large windows allow natural sunlight and invite you to gaze out at the falling snow if you’re lucky.

While snow is never guaranteed, these tiny houses still make a relaxing and snug little getaway for a winter break.

Communal Areas + Amenities

Communal fire pits are wonderful for gathering around with friends and family. You can also venture out of this tiny home village to find plenty of activities around Mt. Hood. Activities such as skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and scenic winter hikes. Be sure to swing into one of the local towns that host tree-lighting ceremonies, festive holiday markets, and other winter events.

4. Under Canvas | Great Smoky Mountains

Under Canvas has various locations spread across the states, but one in particular is the Great Smoky Mountains camp. While this southern glamping destination may not guarantee snow, if you live in that region, heading into the Smokies for some elevation offers your best chance to see at least flurries.

So if you’re close by, keep an eye on those temp drops and hedge your bets. At Under Canvas Great Smoky Mountains, large canvas shelter tents offer plush and warm king-size beds, a wood-burning stove, and stunning views of the foggy "smoky" mountains.

Communal Areas + Amenities

During the winter months, this Under Canvas retreat offers plenty of activities. Enjoy snowshoeing on nearby trails or take a short drive into Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge to get in the spirit of Christmas with lots of holiday activities. If you’re lucky enough to have snow or a dusting, take a leisurely drive through the mountains, stopping at scene pull-offs to set sights on a gorgeous snowy landscape. And for more activities, drive the 11-mile Cades Cove Loop Road to spot local wildlife or ride an Aerial Tramway into Ober Mountain where you can go snow tubing and ice skating too.

5. The Ranch at Rock Creek | Philipsburg, Montana

From luxurious log homes to charming glamping tents, each accommodation at The Ranch at Rock Creek – a five-star guest ranch – is designed with rustic-chic decor and thoughtful modern comforts. Think wood-burning fireplaces and clawfoot tubs. However, while most suites are only open through the end of October, there are a few open year-round if you’re searching for a snowy glamping experience.

Check out Trapper Cabin and the Sweet Grass Cabin and of course, the main Granite Lodge and Historic Barn and more private cabins situated throughout this big Montana property.

Communal Areas + Amenities

Big Sky Country doesn’t shy away from snow. At Rock Creek, you’ll find plenty of winter activities, including horseback riding, ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and even sleigh rides.

Done with the day? Thaw out at the Silver Dollar Saloon with specialty cocktails, a game of pool, or just hang outside around the flagstone firepit.

6. AutoCamp Catskills | Saugerties, New York

In the Northeast, you might think of going as far as Maine for a winter glamping getaway. However, many accommodations close their doors for the season. Where you can find winter glamping though is New York, especially the Catskills.

AutoCamp Catskills offers cabins and Airstreams with reservations into January and February months. And if city slickers play their cards right, you can make it to upstate New York for a quick winter escape. Each accommodation is guaranteed to keep you toasty and even offers small kitchenettes to warm up soup or a hot meal.

Communal Areas + Amenities

AutoCamp Catskills is close to ski resorts and slopes, so take a day trip for some fun winter playtime. Hunter Mountain offers snowshoeing. And there’s even nearby historic Saugerties and Woodstock, the infamous town of the namesake 1969 music festival. (Fun Fact: Woodstock took place in the nearby town of Bethel.) Communal firepits beckon s’more making, storytelling, and more. Plus, there are dining options at a General Store and The Kitchen.

7. Alaska Homestead Adventures | Fairbanks, Alaska

We can’t conclude this list without mentioning a winter glamping destination in Alaska. While the snowy Alaskan wilderness is not for the timid, you can find all kinds of comfy accommodations from domes to cabins to bubbles as you take in the Aurora Borealis, we think this destination is pretty special: Alaska Homestead Adventures.

Whether you choose the rustic log cabin or the wall tent, your hosts welcome you into their homestead and treat you as family. Picked up in Fairbanks, you make your journey through the woods via snowmachine, then dogsled, and finally arrive at your cabin.

Communal Areas + Amenities

This all-inclusive adventure offers home-cooked meals and lots of winter activities in the remote Alaskan wilderness. Your hosts will teach you all about Alaskan life and survival, including winter camping, ice-fishing, building an efficient wood stove to keep warm, and so much more.
